About Knaagplaza & ’t Knaagplein

Knaagplaza.nl is the online shop of ’t Knaagplein, located at Doortocht 10 in Bodegraven. What started in 2012 as a local boarding facility for rabbits and guinea pigs has since grown into the largest specialised pet store for rabbits and rodents in the Netherlands, with a 350 m² showroom.
How did that happen? Step by step, by always listening to the animals and their owners.
From boarding facility to breeder to specialist
In the early years, the team at ’t Knaagplein noticed something striking: the level of care for the animals that came in for boarding varied enormously. People wanted to do the right thing, but often found conflicting information online. That was the reason not only to care for animals, but also to actively provide advice — on nutrition, housing, and daily care.
This approach proved successful. Visitors no longer came just for an animal or the boarding service, but also for expert advice. ’t Knaagplein grew into a breeder, boarding facility, and shop, attracting customers from all over the country — and now also from abroad.
Zooply — our own quality brand
As the shop continued to grow, one thing became increasingly clear: the products that worked best for our own animals were not always available from other brands. This led to the creation of Zooply — our own brand of rabbit and rodent products.
Under the Zooply name, we develop our own range of:
Food — grain-free, high in fibre, and tailored to the specific needs of each animal species
Bedding — from hemp fibre to herbal hay, carefully selected
Snacks and dried herbs — without unnecessary additives, based on what animals eat in nature
Demand for Zooply products from across the Netherlands grew so quickly that in 2023 we launched Knaagplaza.nl as a full online store. This allows every owner of a rabbit, guinea pig, or other rodent — anywhere in the Netherlands — to access the same high-quality products.
