For rabbits and guinea pigs, a layer of 5-10 cm is more than enough as a comfortable, warm base. It's best to use straw combined with an absorbent bedding underneath, so moisture is properly absorbed.
Zooply Stro is mainly warm and comfortable to lie in, but less suitable for digging deep tunnels. You can combine it with a diggable bedding underneath if you want to create a scape.
