The Trixie Small Animal Hutch with Run is a compact outdoor hutch made of stained pine with powder-coated metal mesh, in grey. It measures 116 × 97 × 63 cm. The hutch has a hiding place, so your animals can retreat when they want some peace and quiet.
The mesh door has a double lock. This helps keep predators out. The roof is covered with roofing felt and opens from above, so you can easily reach your animals. At the bottom there is a pull-out plastic tray: slide it out, replace the bedding and slide it back in. The hutch also has a closable floor hatch with a plastic coating.
To be honest: this is a compact hutch. For a pair of guinea pigs it is a good base, especially with extra daily exercise. Rabbits want to run, jump and stand upright. For them, connect an extra Trixie run or give them plenty of exercise space every day. Always keep rabbits and guinea pigs in at least pairs.
Place the hutch out of draughts, not in full sun and sheltered from rain and frost. In winter, add extra straw. According to Trixie, the wood is treated with a non-toxic stain. Trixie recommends treating it again every 1 to 3 years with a non-toxic, water-based outdoor stain or paint. Check the inside regularly for gnawing damage and repair affected parts in time.
As their only enclosure it is small for rabbits. Use it as a base and add an extra run or daily exercise space, so your rabbits can really move around.
Pull out the plastic tray, throw away the dirty bedding and refill with fresh bedding. Through the roof, which opens from above, you can also reach the rest of the hutch easily.
