Rosewood Christmas wreath with red pompoms and green and wood-coloured pieces. To hang up, play with and nibble. Read more.
Do you hang a wreath on your door around the holidays? Now your rabbit can have one too. This play wreath from Rosewood's Cupid & Comet Christmas line is a Christmas wreath to hang up, made to play with and nibble. The wreath has red pompoms with a frayed, natural look, with green and wood-coloured pieces in between. It comes with a hanging loop, so you can easily give it a spot.
A hanging toy works differently from something lying on the floor. Your pet has to reach up, pull and push, and the wreath moves along. That makes it exciting. Rabbits stand on their hind legs to reach it, guinea pigs pluck at the bottom and rats sometimes simply climb over to it. That makes the wreath not just a Christmas decoration, but also enrichment in the enclosure or play area.
The wreath measures 15 × 5 × 15 cm and weighs 65 grams. That is a handy size for rabbits, guinea pigs and rats. Hang it at a height your pet can just reach, for example on the side of the enclosure or run. Do not hang it so low that your pet can get its head into the loop, and not so high that it has to jump to reach it. For guinea pigs, hang it lower, as they hardly climb.
No composition of the wreath is known. So watch calmly, especially the first few times, how your pet deals with it. Remove pieces that come loose and the string if your pet starts eating them, and replace the wreath when it has been gnawed too far. The wreath is a toy and an extra. Hay remains the basis. Hang the wreath next to the hay rack with Zooply hay for rabbits or for guinea pigs, for example. For rats, combine it with a few hidden Zooply snacks for rats.
The wreath has a Christmas theme, but you can happily leave it up in January as long as it is intact. Keep it dry and remove it if it has become wet or dirty. If you use it in the outdoor run, bring it back inside after playtime.
