Treat from the Selective Care range, focused on skin and coat. An extra next to hay and pellets, not a replacement for veterinary care. Read more.
Selective Skin & Coat Care is a treat from the Selective Care range, focused on skin and coat. It is a supplementary extra next to the regular diet. The composition and feeding advice are on the packaging. Always check them before you start.
A healthy coat starts with a good diet and a clean, dry enclosure. Brush your pet regularly, especially during moulting and for long-haired breeds. That is also a nice moment for a treat from this range: give a piece as a reward after brushing. This teaches your rabbit or guinea pig that brushing is something pleasant. While brushing, check the skin for flakes, bald patches or parasites.
Give this treat in moderation. Hay remains the unlimited main food, with some pellet food, fresh greens and clean water. Guinea pigs also get vitamin C every day from food and vegetables. If you have doubts about your pet's health, a vet with rabbit and guinea pig experience is the right person to take a look.
A treat is not a treatment. If you see bald patches, flakes or a lot of scratching, see a vet with rabbit or guinea pig experience.
It depends on coat length. Long-haired breeds need help more often, and during moulting you brush all animals more frequently.
Follow the feeding advice on the packaging. A small amount is enough.
A dry, clean enclosure with low-dust bedding and a balanced diet with plenty of hay.
