Rodents like to work for their food. A snack that is simply handed over is gone in seconds. A snack they first have to dig out of a ball keeps them busy for quite a while. Treat Balls are natural woven balls of approx. 3 cm. There are 6 in a pack. Put something tasty inside, and your pet gets to work: rolling, pushing, nibbling and pulling until the snack falls out.
Back Zoo Nature made the balls as foraging toys. Back Zoo Nature lists them among its toys for birds and rodents. Foraging means searching for food, and rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, hamsters, mice, gerbils and degus spend a large part of their time doing that in nature. In an enclosure, food is often just sitting in a bowl. With a few filled balls you give your pet back a piece of that search.
This is how to use them. Put a few Zooply snacks for hamsters or some seeds into a ball. Place it on the floor, or half bury it in the bedding, so your pet has to find it first. Rats are clever and figure out a filled ball quickly. Hide it for them in a hammock or under a hideout, with a few Zooply snacks for rats inside. For rabbits and guinea pigs, fill a ball with a pinch of hay or some dried herbs, or with a small Zooply snack for rabbits or Zooply snack for guinea pigs, and place it among the hay. For degus, only use sugar-free snacks for degus or herbs. The same goes for dwarf hamsters: no sweet snacks or fruit.
At a diameter of approx. 3 cm, the balls suit small rodents well. Mice and dwarf hamsters can roll them around, and a Syrian hamster can hold them easily. Gerbils and degus love to gnaw away at them. For rats they are small, but great for hiding. They are also small for rabbits and guinea pigs, but filled with hay or herbs they still give them something to search for and nibble on. As it is a natural product, the size may vary slightly per ball. With 6 pieces you can hide a few at once, or grab a new one when the old one is finished.
Gnawing and shredding is the point. So the balls will fall apart, and that is normal. Remove leftovers if they get wet or dirty. Do not use too many snacks per day: one ball with a few pieces is enough. Snacks remain an extra next to the regular food. Replace a ball when it falls apart.
A few small snacks, seeds or dried herbs. Choose what suits your pet.
Yes, that is part of it. Replace it when it falls apart.
Yes, as long as you only put sugar-free snacks or herbs in them. Degus are sensitive to sugar.

Yes. Fill a ball with a pinch of hay, some dried herbs or a small snack and place it among the hay or in the run. Snacks remain an extra for them too, next to hay and the regular food.
