Soft red and white plush tunnel with a sheepskin look. A warm place to lie in and walk through for guinea pigs, dwarf rabbits and rats. Read more.
Not every tunnel is meant for running through. This Trixie relax tunnel is mainly a place to lie down in. The tunnel is made of soft plush with a sheepskin look in polyester. It feels warm and cosy, exactly what guinea pigs and small rabbits look for when they want to unwind. The tunnel is red and white, in Christmas colours, and adds a cheerful touch to the enclosure around the holidays.
Guinea pigs are skittish prey animals. They feel safest when they can crawl under something, with a way out on both sides. A tunnel offers exactly that. You will often see a guinea pig lying in the opening to look around, or settling right in the middle. Dwarf rabbits use it as a resting spot in between running. Rats like soft tunnels to sleep in too. For them the tunnel is a place to all pile in together.
The tunnel has a diameter of 20 cm and is 50 cm long. That suits guinea pigs, dwarf rabbits and rats well. For larger rabbits a 20 cm opening is too tight. Choose a wider tunnel for them. Place the tunnel in a fixed spot on a layer of Zooply bedding for guinea pigs or for rabbits, or in a quiet corner of the play area. With rats you can add a tuft of Zooply nesting material.
Because the tunnel is made of plush, we want to give you some honest advice. Watch closely during the first days to make sure your pet does not chew the fabric or swallow bits of it. Guinea pigs usually leave fabric alone, but rabbits and rats sometimes do chew textiles. If you see your pet chewing the tunnel, remove it. Also do not place the tunnel where your pet often urinates, so it stays dry and fresh.
The Christmas colours make it extra fun in December, but the tunnel remains a soft resting place all year round. Shake it out regularly and brush off loose hair and hay. Keep it dry. If the tunnel is dirty, wet or damaged, replace it with a new one.

Yes, rats love sleeping somewhere soft and often crawl into a tunnel together. With rats too, keep a close eye on whether they chew the fabric.

Yes, the Christmas colours are only how it looks. It remains a soft tunnel you can use all year round.
You can place several tunnels in the enclosure or play area. With a group of guinea pigs in particular that is nice, so they do not have to compete for one spot.
At 't Knaagplein in Bodegraven we work with guinea pigs and rabbits every day. We see how much they like to seek out a soft, sheltered spot, especially in the colder months. This relax tunnel gives them that spot, with a festive touch around the holidays. We choose accessories we consider suitable ourselves. Combine the tunnel with Zooply, our own brand, for bedding and hay.
