Product description

Wooden climbing tree - Pinewood climbing tree for small rodents - 16 × 10 × 25 cm

Climbing, looking out and scrambling back down: many small rodents love it. The wooden climbing tree from Duvo+ gives them plenty of room for it. It is made of quality pinewood and provides hours of playing and climbing fun. Your pet climbs on it, sniffs around and has a great view over the enclosure from the top. And because it is wood, it may be gnawed as well.

A climbing element makes an enclosure much more interesting. Without differences in height, the floor is the only playground. A climbing tree adds an extra layer to explore. That encourages movement and natural behaviour. Mice in particular are true climbers; they will run up and down it all evening. Gerbils like to use it as a lookout, and hamsters climb it when they go exploring.

Place the climbing tree on a deep layer of bedding and press the base in firmly. That way it stands steady and every jump down is soft. Do not place it right against the roof or the bars, so your pet cannot climb from it to somewhere it should not be. A fun tip: hide a few seeds or a small treat at the top. Then your pet really has to climb up to get its reward. Combine the tree with cork, branches and hiding places on the ground for a naturally furnished enclosure.

At 16 × 10 × 25 cm, this is a climbing element for small rodents. Mice and gerbils get the most out of it, because they climb quickly and skilfully. Dwarf hamsters are less able climbers and judge height poorly. For them a deep, soft layer underneath is extra important. A Syrian hamster can climb it too, as long as there is enough space around it and the tree stands firmly.

A climbing tree stands best in a thick layer of Zooply bedding. For gerbils, who love to dig deep, Zooply bedding for gerbils is a nice choice. The pinewood may be gnawed. Once too much has been chewed away and the tree no longer stands firmly, replace it.

Frequently asked questions

Is the climbing tree safe for dwarf hamsters?

Yes, if you place it well. Dwarf hamsters climb less nimbly than mice and judge a jump poorly. So provide a deep layer of bedding underneath and do not place the tree next to a high level. Then a fall cannot do any harm.

How do I keep the tree from falling over?

Press the base well into the bedding or put it on a flat, sturdy spot. If needed, place it against the wall or another heavy object. Check now and then that it is still stable, especially if your pet digs a lot.

Can my mouse gnaw on the wood?

Yes, that is fine. The climbing tree is made of pinewood and encourages natural gnawing behaviour. Gnaw marks are perfectly normal. Only replace the tree once it has been chewed so far that it no longer stands firmly.

How do I clean the climbing tree?

Brush off loose bedding and dirt with a dry brush. If a wet spot has appeared on it, wipe it clean and let the wood dry thoroughly. Always keep wood as dry as possible.

Can I combine several climbing elements?

Definitely. Mice and gerbils love variety. Place the climbing tree next to a house, a set of stairs or a tunnel, for example. Do leave enough open space to run and dig.
