Wooden villa with bark roof, made of quality wood. A safe place to rest, play and gnaw for hamsters, mice, gerbils and degus. Read more.
The Duvo+ wooden Villa is a cosy house with a roof made of bark. The bark roof gives the house a natural look, as if it came straight from the woods. The house itself is made of quality wood. Your rodent finds a safe place in it to rest, play and gnaw. For animals that naturally hide and dig, a spot like this is not a luxury but a basic need.
The wood and bark encourage the natural urge to gnaw. So your pet may chew it, and it will. The bark roof is often especially popular. That is normal and part of using it. Replace the villa once it has been chewed away too far over time.
Use the villa as a permanent sleeping spot in the enclosure. Place it on a deep layer of bedding, so your pet can dig around it. It suits a naturally furnished enclosure: combine the villa with some cork, branches of untreated wood and tufts of hay, and you have a piece of forest at home. Fill the villa with some nesting material; your pet will turn it into a cosy nest.
At 22 × 18 × 15 cm, the villa is roomy for small rodents. A Syrian hamster can turn around in it and build a nest. For dwarf hamsters, mice and gerbils there is plenty of space, even for a few animals together. A degu also fits in it as a hiding place. Do keep in mind that degus are serious gnawers: they chew wood away faster than a hamster. With degus, check the villa more often and replace it in time.
A villa deserves a good garden. Put a layer of Zooply bedding for hamsters underneath and add some Zooply nesting material, so your pet can furnish the inside itself.
Yes. At 22 × 18 × 15 cm, a Syrian hamster has enough room to turn around and make a nest. Do place the house on a thick layer of bedding, so it can dig around it too.
Gnawing is natural behaviour and allowed. Degus are keen gnawers, so with them it goes faster than with hamsters. Keep an eye on it and replace the villa once it has been chewed away too far or becomes unstable. Also give them plenty of hay and other gnawing material.
Certainly. At least one hiding place per animal, and preferably one extra, is a good rule. With gerbils and mice in a group, a second house brings calm. A tunnel next to it makes the enclosure even more interesting.
Sweep or brush the villa out when you clean the enclosure and remove dirty nesting material and leftover fresh food. Keep the wood and bark dry. With hamsters, leave part of the nest and food store in place.
They have the same kind of bark roof, but are larger. The Mansion and the Hacienda are meant for guinea pigs and rats. The Villa is the smaller sibling, for hamsters, mice, gerbils and degus.
