A toy and treat in one: a roll of mountain meadow hay with marigold, peppermint and rose flowers. Medium size of 25 cm. Read more.
Guinea pigs and rabbits are grazers. They prefer to nibble all day long. The Esve Lenterol medium fits that perfectly. It is a 25 cm roll of mountain meadow hay with marigold flowers, peppermint plant and rose flowers, around a cardboard core. Esve calls it a toy and shelter in one, made without artificial adhesives.
Your pet pulls strands of hay from the roll and finds the flowers along the way. That searching and pulling is enrichment. It brings variety to a day that otherwise mostly consists of eating and resting. Boredom can lead to unwanted behaviour, and a roll like this gives your pet something to do.
Place the roll in the run or in a quiet spot in the enclosure. With guinea pigs it works well to put it next to a hideout, so they can nibble from a safe place. If you have several animals, it is nice if they can reach it from both sides.
The Lenterol is a complementary feed. It does not replace regular hay and pellets. When the roll is almost eaten bare, replace it.
Esve calls the roll a toy and shelter in one. The exact diameter is not listed in the product information, so check for yourself whether your pet fits in or around it.
The roll is a complementary feed. You can leave it in the enclosure until it is bare. Make sure your pet also gets unlimited hay and its own pellets.
The roll contains peppermint plant in small amounts, together with hay and flowers. As part of this roll it is a natural flavour. If in doubt about a sensitive animal, consult a vet experienced with guinea pigs.
