Complete grain-free nuggets for guinea pigs with Timothy hay as the first ingredient. No maize or wheat and no added sugars. Read more.
Selective Guinea Pig Grain Free is a complete, grain-free food for guinea pigs. Timothy hay is the main ingredient and it contains no maize or wheat. The natural ingredients are specially selected to reduce the chance of intolerance. They are traceable and harvested locally where possible.
No sugars or colourings are added. Because it is a pressed nugget, your guinea pig eats the same in every bite. Selective feeding, which often happens with a mixed food, is therefore not possible.
With these nuggets too, hay remains the basis. Put unlimited fresh hay in the enclosure, ideally in several places, because guinea pigs eat throughout the day. Guinea pigs cannot produce vitamin C themselves, so give fresh vegetables rich in vitamin C, such as bell pepper, every day. Check the packaging for the daily amount and whether vitamin C has been added.
When changing food, mix the new nuggets into the old food over one to two weeks. Guinea pigs are creatures of habit and need time to get used to something new. Keep an eye on their appetite and weight. If a guinea pig eats poorly or loses weight, see a vet with guinea pig experience.
Grain-free food is an option if you want to avoid grains such as maize and wheat, for example for a sensitive guinea pig or on your vet's advice.
This is not stated in the product information we have. Check the packaging and in any case give fresh vegetables rich in vitamin C, such as bell pepper, every day.
It means Timothy hay makes up the largest part of the nuggets. It does not replace loose hay; always offer that in unlimited amounts next to the nuggets.
