Grey star made of wood and sisal that you fill with treats. Your pet has to work the treat out itself. Made of 100% natural material. Read more.
A treat from your hand is tasty, but a treat your pet has to find itself is more fun. This Trixie play and snack star is made to be filled with treats. You put a few goodies in the star and your pet gets to work: sniffing, pushing, pulling and gnawing until the treat falls out. That is exactly the kind of foraging behaviour rabbits and rodents naturally engage in.
The star is made of wood and sisal, both 100% natural material. The colour is grey. The size is 14 × 17 cm. That is large enough to keep rabbits and guinea pigs busy for a while, and for rats, hamsters, mice, gerbils and degus it is quite an object to investigate. Because wood and sisal may be gnawed, the star is a chew toy at the same time.
Fill the star with a few snacks that suit your pet. For rabbits choose Zooply snacks for rabbits, for guinea pigs Zooply snacks for guinea pigs and for hamsters Zooply snacks for hamsters. Snacks are an extra and should be a small part of the menu. A few pieces in the star are enough. For rats, mice and gerbils it works the same way: a few small pieces are enough. If you have a dwarf hamster or degus, do not choose sweet snacks or fruit, because they are sensitive to sugar. You can also fill the star with a tuft of hay or dried herbs.
Place the star in the enclosure or play area, where your pet can roll it easily. You can also hide it halfway under the hay. Then your pet first has to find the star and then the treat. Especially for rabbits and guinea pigs that spend a lot of time indoors, this adds welcome variety to the day.
Wood and sisal may be gnawed. That is normal behaviour. Check the sisal now and then for loose threads. If you see long loose fibres, trim them off. Replace the star when too much has been gnawed away or when it falls apart. Keep it dry and remove it if it has become wet or dirty.
