Natural piece of black moorwood, about 30 to 40 cm. A resting spot, climbing element and dark, natural decoration for the enclosure. Every piece is unique. Read more.
One beautiful piece of wood can turn an enclosure into a small landscape. Black Moorwood is a natural piece of black moorwood, with an irregular shape full of bends, branches and hollows. Your pet can climb onto it, sit on it to look around or hide underneath. The dark colour gives the enclosure a calm, natural look. Next to light bedding, green moss or hay, the wood really stands out.
The Medium size is about 30 to 40 cm. That is a large piece, which works best in a spacious enclosure. For a Syrian hamster in a large tank it makes a lovely centrepiece to dig around. A group of gerbils or degus will use it as a lookout and climbing element. Rats also love climbing on it, for example on the floor of a large cage. Do you have a dwarf hamster or mice in a smaller enclosure? Then this piece takes up a lot of space, and a smaller piece of moorwood is a better choice.
Black Moorwood is ideal for hamster scaping. Place it half buried in a deep layer of Zooply bedding, so it looks like an old tree root sticking out of the ground. Underneath the wood you create a spot where your hamster can dig a burrow. Put some Zooply nesting material in a sheltered corner next to it. The same idea works for gerbils, with hay mixed into the bedding so the tunnels stay firm. Always make sure the wood is stable and cannot topple over or shift when your pet digs underneath it.
The wood goes well with plants, vines, a food bowl or other natural decoration. With a few pieces at different heights you can create climbing routes through the enclosure. Try scattering a few seeds or a snack around the wood, so it becomes a place to search and sniff. Do not keep changing the whole layout. A familiar base gives peace of mind, especially for a hamster.
Rodents gnaw, and this wood will be nibbled too. That is normal. Check now and then how the piece is holding up and replace it when it has been gnawed down too far or has become very dirty. Because it is a natural product, every piece has its own shape, colour and texture. The piece you receive may therefore differ from the example photo.
About 30 to 40 cm. Because it is a natural product, every piece differs in shape and size.
It can be, but only in a spacious enclosure. For a smaller enclosure, a smaller piece of moorwood is more practical.
Yes, gnawing is normal. Replace the wood when it has been chewed down too far.
This is black moorwood, a natural wood with a dark colour. The colour may vary slightly per piece.
Knock or brush off any dirt. When cleaning out, mainly remove the dirty bedding around the wood. There is no need to move the wood every time.
