Soft plush house shaped like a carrot, with a removable cushion. A cosy nest for hamsters and a soft sleeping spot for a rat. Read more.
The Duvo+ plush house Carrot is a cheerful house shaped like a carrot. It is made of soft plush and has a removable cushion. That makes the inside feel like a cosy nest. The house is a lovely sleeping spot and a fun activity too: your pet can explore it, crawl inside and make it its own. And it looks rather funny in the enclosure as well.
Why does your pet like such a soft house? Small rodents look for a sheltered, warm place to rest. A hamster sleeps through the day curled up deep in its nest. Rats like to nap on a soft spot between their active moments. Degus are active during the day, but they also regularly look for a hiding place. In the Carrot house, they can all settle down.
Here is where to put it. Place the house on a firm layer of bedding, in a quiet spot. With hamsters, do not put it next to the wheel, so it can sleep undisturbed during the day. Put a bit of nesting material nearby; many hamsters carry it inside themselves. With rats, you can also put the house on a level, as long as it stands steadily there. A nice idea: hide a small treat in the house, so your pet is extra keen to explore it.
At 17 × 18.5 × 20 cm, this is a nice size for hamsters, both dwarf hamsters and Syrian hamsters. For a rat it is a snug sleeping spot for one animal. Degus can use it too, but they gnaw a lot; keep a close eye on that. For all animals: plush is fabric. Check that your pet does not chew the house or swallow bits of fabric. If you see that, take the house away.
Complete the setup with Zooply nesting material for hamsters near the house. For rats, place it on a layer of Zooply bedding for rats.
Yes. With a 17 × 18.5 cm floor and a height of 20 cm, a Syrian hamster has enough room to sleep in it. Also give it a deep layer of bedding to dig in.
For one rat it is a snug spot. A group of rats will not fit in it together. With several rats, add extra sleeping spots, such as a larger plush house or a hammock.
Then take the house away. Degus naturally gnaw a lot, but bits of fabric do not belong in their stomach. For degus, choose a wooden house instead, where gnawing is fine.
Take out the cushion and shake out the house and cushion regularly. Brush away loose hair and bedding. Keep the house dry and do not put it on the toilet spot.
Because of its size, this house is meant for small rodents. For rabbits and guinea pigs there is a larger plush hideout Carrot.
