Soft plush hideout with a carrot print and a removable cushion. A warm, cosy sleeping spot for guinea pigs and dwarf rabbits. Read more.
For rabbits and guinea pigs, carrots are mostly an occasional treat, but this carrot is fine every day. The Duvo+ Carrot plush hideout is a soft house with a cheerful carrot design. Inside there is a removable cushion. It gives your pet a cosy nesting feeling: a place to crawl into, take a nap or simply be alone for a while.
Many guinea pigs have a favourite spot where they prefer to retreat, and often that is an enclosed, soft house. There they feel protected. Rabbits also like to lie somewhere they can rest their back against a wall. A soft hiding place is therefore a nice addition to the wooden houses and tunnels in the enclosure, especially for animals that live indoors.
Place the hideout in a dry spot in the enclosure on a layer of bedding. Put a handful of hay in front of it, and the entrance becomes a cosy spot to nibble. Turn the cushion over now and then and shake it out, so it stays fluffy. Do not place the house right under the water bottle or in the corner your pet uses as a toilet.
The hideout measures 30 × 25 × 23 cm. That suits a guinea pig and a dwarf rabbit or small rabbit well. For medium and large rabbits it is too small. For a group of guinea pigs we recommend offering several hiding places, at least one per animal and preferably one extra. Then nobody has to wait for a spot.
Plush is nice to lie in, but not to chew. So for the first while, check that your pet does not chew the fabric or swallow bits of it, and remove the house if you see that. Complete the enclosure with Zooply hay for guinea pigs or hay for rabbits. Hay is the most important food and keeps your pet busy.
Yes, at 30 × 25 × 23 cm an adult guinea pig has enough room in it. A dwarf rabbit fits in well too. For larger rabbits, a roomier house is a better choice.
Preferably not. Plush is not meant to be eaten. If your guinea pig chews the fabric or swallows bits of it, remove the house. Offer wooden chew material and plenty of hay instead.
Take out the cushion and shake it out. Brush the house inside and out and keep it dry. Always let it dry properly before putting it back.
Yes, a mix of hiding places is actually nice. Some animals prefer to lie soft, others choose wood. That way your pet can decide where it wants to rest.
Plush is best in a dry spot. Use it in an indoor enclosure or in a dry, well-sheltered sleeping compartment, and not in an open run.
