Crawling into something soft, turning the cushion just right and then dozing off contentedly. The Duvo+ Striped plush rabbit house gives your pet a cosy nesting feeling. The house is soft, has a cheerful striped design and a removable cushion. A place to hide, rest and calmly watch the surroundings from the dark.
Rabbits and guinea pigs are prey animals. For them a hiding place is not a luxury but a basic need. In an enclosed, soft house they feel safe and truly relax. Especially with animals that have just moved into a new enclosure, you often notice they mainly stay in their house at first. That is normal. Once they feel at home, they go exploring more and more.
Place the house in a dry spot on a layer of bedding and put some fresh hay next to it. Then your pet has food and rest close together. Plush stays nicest when it stays dry, so do not put it right next to the water bottle or in the toilet corner. You can shake out the removable cushion separately. That keeps the house fresh without turning the whole enclosure upside down.
About the size: the house measures 23 × 32 × 30 cm. That is a good size for a guinea pig and for a dwarf rabbit or small rabbit. For medium and large rabbits it is too small to lie in comfortably. If you have two guinea pigs, preferably give each its own hiding place. That way everyone can retreat when they want to.
Plush is soft and cosy, but not meant for chewing. So during the first few days, check carefully that your pet does not chew the fabric or swallow bits of it. If you see that, remove the house. Put a thick layer of Zooply bedding for guinea pigs or for rabbits in the enclosure, so the house stands firm and dry.
For a dwarf rabbit or small rabbit, yes. A medium or large rabbit will not lie in it comfortably. Measure your rabbit when it is stretched out and compare that with the 32 cm of the house.
Remove the house. Swallowing bits of fabric is not good for your pet. Offer a wooden house instead if your rabbit chews everything, and keep plush for animals that lie in it calmly.
Take out the cushion and shake it out separately. Brush hair and hay out of the house and keep everything dry. If the house has become damp, let it dry properly before it goes back into the enclosure.
Plush stays nicest in a dry spot. It can go in a dry indoor hutch or a well-sheltered sleeping compartment, but do not put it anywhere it can get wet.
Two guinea pigs that get along well sometimes lie in it together. Still, it is better to give each animal its own hiding place, plus one extra. That prevents unrest.
