The Small Animal Hutch XL with Run is the most spacious model in this Trixie range. It measures 135 × 115 × 112 cm and is made of grey stained pine with powder-coated metal mesh. It has a hiding place with a sliding door. The run has four mesh doors. This means you can combine the hutch flexibly with other natura runs from Trixie.
What makes this hutch especially practical are its seven doors. You can easily reach every part. The roof sections are covered with roofing felt and open from above. One half of the roof has storage space, for example to keep some hay or bedding within reach. There are pull-out plastic trays and a closable floor hatch with a plastic coating.
The mesh has a bar spacing of 2 cm. According to Trixie, this makes the hutch suitable for raising young animals as well. Thanks to its generous size, this hutch is a good base for a pair of rabbits or a small group of guinea pigs. Also give rabbits daily exercise space or an extra run. Always keep rabbits and guinea pigs in at least pairs.
Place the hutch out of draughts, not in full sun and sheltered from rain and frost. In winter, add extra straw to the hiding area. According to Trixie, the wood is treated with a non-toxic stain. Trixie recommends re-treating it every 1 to 3 years with a non-toxic, water-based stain or paint. Check the inside regularly for gnawing damage.
