Selective Guinea Pig Botanical is a guinea pig nugget from the Selective Botanical range. It is a pressed food in which all ingredients are combined in one nugget. Your guinea pigs therefore cannot pick out only their favourite bits.
A good diet is extra important for guinea pigs. They cannot produce vitamin C themselves and need it from their food every day. So next to the nuggets, give fresh vegetables rich in vitamin C, such as bell pepper, every day. The packaging tells you whether and how much vitamin C these nuggets contain.
Hay is the basis of the diet: unlimited, fresh and ideally in several places in the enclosure. Guinea pigs eat small amounts throughout the day, and hay keeps their teeth and digestion in good condition. The nuggets are a supplement to that. Follow the feeding guide on the bag and always provide clean drinking water.
Guinea pigs do not like change. Introduce a new food calmly by mixing it into the old food over one to two weeks. This lets your guinea pigs get used to the taste and keeps their digestion balanced. If a guinea pig suddenly eats less, see a vet with guinea pig experience.
