As rabbits get older, they often become calmer. They move less and their nutritional needs change. Selective Rabbit 4+ is specially developed for rabbits over 4 years old. It is a pressed nugget: every piece is the same, so your rabbit cannot feed selectively.
The nuggets contain at least 20% Timothy hay and 1% thyme, intended to keep the appetite up. The fibre content is 22%. Sugar and protein are kept low, because older, less active rabbits gain weight more easily. It also contains linseed, added vitamin C (300 mg/kg) and a blend of herbs such as spinach, blueberry and hawthorn berries.
For an older rabbit too, unlimited fresh hay remains the most important food. Chewing hay wears down the continuously growing teeth. Feed the nuggets as a small part of the diet, together with some fresh greens every day and always clean water. The daily amount is stated on the bag.
Keep a close eye on changes in an older rabbit. Is your rabbit eating less, producing fewer droppings or sitting still in a corner? Then go to a vet with rabbit experience straight away. Such changes are never something to wait out.
This food is intended for rabbits over 4 years old. Switch gradually by mixing it into the current food over one to two weeks.
