Selective Rabbit Grain Free is the grain-free nugget from the Selective range for rabbits. While many rabbit foods contain grains such as wheat, this food is made without grains. Some owners choose this deliberately, for example on their vet's advice or because they want to keep the diet as simple and natural as possible.
Like the other Selective foods, this is a pressed nugget. Every piece is the same, so your rabbit cannot pick out the tastiest bits. That matters for rabbits, because with a mix of loose grains and seeds they often leave the fibre-rich parts behind.
Whether you feed grain-free or not, hay remains the main food. Offer unlimited fresh hay, ideally in a hay rack, and refresh it every day. Nuggets are only a small part of the diet. Add some fresh greens daily and always provide clean drinking water. The right amount of nuggets is stated on the bag.
When switching from another food, do it gradually. Mix the grain-free nuggets into the old food over one to two weeks. Watch your rabbit's droppings and appetite during that time. If your rabbit eats less or produces fewer droppings, contact a vet with rabbit experience straight away.
